Court Hearings

2003

Patricia filed for Divorce in February of 2002. Between her filing and our Final Decree in December of 2004 we averaged a hearing a month. We spent time in Family Court, Domestic Violence, Civil, Bankruptcy and finally Criminal. The majority of hearings were recorded and are public record.

January 15, 2003

Patricia did not have any reason to show up for the hearing the next day before Judge Jewell and she used her distress at not receiving a new restraining order the day before as an excuse.

The Guardian Ad Litem requested this hearing to deal with the events of the previous month, the removal of Jessica and Montie from Patricia care, the destruction of Dr. Zieman's expensive parenting plan before it could be implemented, and the now clear reality of Patricia's mental illness.

One missing hearing is the one before Protective Services where Patricia did not argue that the children belonged with her but that they did not belong with me. Indeed, she did not want Glen back. She wanted him sent to prison. Michelle Herrera asked Patricia to provide one specific example of my abuse. Patricia told a strange story about sitting with me on the couch at some unspecified time during our sixteen years of marriage and me slamming her head against the concrete floor.

Ms. Herrera literally told Patricia that she was not credible and showed Patricia the door. As she later escorted me out, she asked how did I stay married to her for so long. My reply -- "When you are holding the Tiger by the tail you do not let go"

None of us gave up on Patricia, the judge, the GAL, the children, and not I. We all hoped that she would rise above her problems and be the mother the children needed. I spent over eighteen years working toward that day, Lord forgive me.
